Short Description:
A collection of five articles, two on physiology and one research on AT for stress reduction among musicians.
Mouritz description:
These are the proceedings of a conference held in Denmark in 1987. Three of the five articles it contains are Muscle Spindles and their relevance to the Alexander Technique by Kathleen J. Ballard, Elastic Tissues and their role in movement by Finn Bojsen-Moeller, and A Study of Stress amongst professional musicians by Michael Nielsen. The latter describes the results of a study where 39 members of the Aarhus Symphony Orchestra were divided into three groups and each group was allocated a method for reduction of stress: beta-blockers, exercises and the F. M. Alexander Technique. New edition contains a postscript which up-dates some of the information. First edition has a print error: "pscyhological" instead of "physiological' on the cover.
