The aim of these two lessons is ‘to gain a working understanding of the mechanics of breathing’ from the perspective of the Technique. Lesson one offers work in the semi-supine and gives directions to encourage breathing to happen by itself and to feel the release of the neck, shoulders, etc. when exhaling. The second lesson covers breathing in the upright and starts with the sitting position. It contains thoughts for releasing in an upwards direction. Both lessons contain the whispered ah, and stretching and yawning are encouraged at the end of each lesson.
